Sparklines are defined by Edward Tufte as intense, simple word sized graphics. Joe Gregario's Sparklines Generator is a web service that will generate these on the fly.
This example, , is the preliminary data from the first round of state math testing we recently conducted at Lewis Elementary . Red indicates students not meeting benchmark, green indicates those that met or exceeded the benchmark score. I have found that these simple graphics convey information much better than some of the stuff I have created in Excel.
