World Changing is a web site/weblog that discusses issues and ideas around the idea of bringing positive change to the world and building a better future for all of its inhabitants. The posts on WorldChanging cover a wide range of topics. Think of it as Engadget or Gizmodo, but with a developing world focus. This week they point to the Aspen Ideas Festival, taking place in Colorado this week. The description of the conference points to a week that...
will engage its participants in a variety of programs, tutorials, seminars, and discussion events that together are guaranteed to charge the atmosphere with vibrant intellectual exchange. Think of it as a weeklong summer university for the mind–remarkable lectures and classes across a stimulating array of topics.
The conference program lists a wide range of talks and sessions that look quite interesting and exciting. Cameron Sinclair of Architecture for Humanity, (Wikipedia Entry) will be there talking about his work and his recent TED Prize and TED wish: "I wish to create a community that actively embraces open source design to generate innovative and sustainable living standards for all."
While I'm sure I will enjoy NECC this week in San Diego, it sounds like what is going on in Aspen will be a whole lot more interesting...
