Over at Google Earth Blog, I found a pointer to KML Writer. KML Writer let's you draw a path or a polygon on a Google Maps image which can then be written into a KML file. Basically you can add building data for buildings that don't show up when you turn on the buildings layer in Google Earth. I made a quick outline of my school using the tool and then opened the resulting kml file in Google Earth to create the image above. Also you will notice the push pins that indicate photos from Flickr which have been geocoded. The web tool Flyr will create a KML file from geotagged Flickr images. The more I play with Google Earth, the more I am finding it to be an amazing tool.
