I sat down last week and printed out this article from Make, and walked through the steps of making an enhanced podcast. Of course I could of saved myself a bit of time if i had just gone to the end of the article where the author points to some tools to help with this process. I tried Gijs van den Heuvel's Podcast Enhancer and found it very easy to use.
PodCastEnhancer is an Apple Script which makes it easy to author Enhanced PodCasts. As MacScripter points out...
You need OS X 10.3.8 or better (including iPhoto, Safari and iTunes 4.9.) to use PodCastEnhancer, as well Apple's ChapterTool, which is a free download from the iTunes Music Store. Make a new project folder in the same folder where ChapterTool resides. Put your .m4a (AAC) audiofile in the project folder. PodCastEnhancer will use your audio file to make the enhanced PodCast! Version 0.3 adda a chapter summary for the first chapter and correctly encodes special XML Characters in HyperLinks.
A very good tool if you are looking to play around with enhanced podcasts on the Apple platform...
