Evergreen Street Tree Planting Project...

At my school, Lewis Elementary, we received a grant from the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation Board to plant 9 trees in an area between the parking lot and sidewalk along SE Evergreen Street. On Monday, November 8, 2010 the first phase of this project began with the removal of a 5 foot section of pavement and concrete to create a  space for the new trees. On Wednesday, November 10, 2010 we installed new parking lot wheel  stops. These wheel stops are made form recycled milk jugs. Actually  300 for each wheel stop. New soil and mulch were added to the space where the pavement was removed and we plan to plant the new trees in mid January along with an addition 7 for our play field.
